Getting the EU Packaging Regulation right
Regulation (EU) 2025/40 has applied since 12 August 2026 – to all packaging, including paper, board and wood.
What the PPWR requires
The PPWR applies to manufacturers, importers and distributors of packaging. Since August 2026 this includes conformity assessment, technical documentation and an EU declaration of conformity, as well as PFAS limits for food-contact packaging.
Further obligations follow step by step, such as harmonised material labelling from August 2028 and recyclability requirements from 2030.
