Chain of Custody (CoC)
FSC chain of custody certification under FSC-STD-40-004 ensures that FSC-certified material is traced without gaps from the forest to the end product. It is the prerequisite for labelling products with the FSC label and selling them as FSC-certified.
It includes the rules for trademark use (FSC-STD-50-001) and – where you use non-certified material – the Controlled Wood system. Since FSC-STD-40-004 V3-1, the FSC Core Labour Requirements also apply.

Forest Management (FM)
FSC forest certification confirms environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management in line with the FSC Principles and the national FSC standard. I contributed to the German FSC forest standard and know its requirements from many audits.
For municipalities and smaller forest owners, group certification is often the most cost-effective route.
